A Remarkable Past, 2023, Mixed materials, glass vitrines, Dimensions variable 84” x 42" x 30”d

On the 25th Anniversary of Albany International Airport’s Art & Culture Program, Kathy Greenwood invited me to participate in an exhibition titled Souvenir to mark the occasion. I can’t help but feel sentimental and exceedingly proud of the program that I founded with my collaborator and successor.

Developing a public art program in a 250,000 sq ft airport terminal presented a monumental and thrilling challenge, for almost two decades and I vividly recall the exhibitions we curated, the artists we worked with, the projects they created, and the remarkable objects from the collections of local museums we showcased.

From the pages of Cut Me Up magazine, I have constructed “replicas” of sculptures exhibited in the airport during my tenure. Enshrining them in glass vitrines, I have created my own “airport souvenirs” of a career that has bestowed rich memories that will sustain me throughout my life.
