A Delicate Balance, 2007
Found wire and metal objects, cable ties, paint, 444" x 180" dia

For many years I have collected timeworn objects – often discarded domestic things – whose history is hidden but not erased when adapted for my sculptural works. This site-specific installation made of welded wire objects that were found, purchased or donated, was painted to unify the disparate pieces, to accentuate their linear qualities and to set them aglow in the shadows of the four-story carriage house gallery. Handrails at each floor allowed one to gaze into the area above and below to investigate the properties of gravity in this soaring vertical space.
