Years ago I purchased a bundled stack of 1950’s vintage flashcards in an antique shop. Each one contained a printed, single image of everyday objects, ordinary, unremarkable. I use their simple illustrations as a starting point for scenes that I embellish with color and pattern. Their shapes speak to me – the images evoking memories, but also somehow relating to the forms I conjure up in my sketchbooks.
